About Wholehearted Home

When I became a mother in 2017, I discovered that I had unknowingly embarked upon a journey of starting over, in a sense. As parents, we have the unique opportunity to review our own childhood experiences as we walk alongside our little ones and continue to grow as they do. A sense of wonder came over me while I began to rediscover the world as if through new eyes. That wonder is something I believe I will forever carry with me.

This project was birthed out of an overflow in my own heart. Shortly after my son was born, I started a blog to share the thoughts that seemed to pour out of me as I learned lesson upon lesson about the simple centralities of life.

It wasn’t long before I stumbled upon Magda Gerber’s beautiful philosophy called RIE®/Respectful Parenting — and my world has never been the same.

The principles of Respectful Parenting have greatly contributed to what I view as the foundation for raising a future full of competent, authentic, empathetic people — ourselves, as parents, included.

In 2020, my blog gradually shifted to an Instagram account, where I started sharing the information I was learning, as well as my own imperfect journey in applying it. At the end of the year, I took a RIE® Foundations Course and received a certificate in the field I’m most passionate about: Respectful Parenting.

Since then, my account has grown to more than 10,000 followers, and I was given the incredible opportunity to write a weekly column for my local, German newspaper. Lots of other projects are in the works — and we added another baby to our family in 2021.

In all that I do, my heart burns to inspire and support families in building deeper connections, respectful relationships, and healthier homes — from the inside out.

Wholeheartedly,

Alyssa
